As we begin counting to 365 one more time, the self-importance that this age of internet has embed in me suggests that I tell you all the lessons I have learned in 2014. Cuz obviously, you like care.
- There is not a single type of green juice that tastes good. I don't care how your weird Russian trainer blends spinach, twigs, and whateverthefuck, it's going to taste like crushed dreams. I know this supposedly keeps you healthy, but I've decided that quality of life definitely trumps length on this one.
- There is absolutely no chance that they didn't get your text. They probably looked at it and forget to respond, but not once has an iPhone malfunctioned so fantastically that the one important text you sent was magically deleted from their phone. Let's all stop playing this game.
- I have very conflicting feelings toward Taylor Swift, and this year just solidified the fact that I'll probably never be able to un-complicate them.
- No matter how sad or upset you are, there is some show on Netflix that will make you feel at least a little bit better. I promise.
- On that note, TV shows that you are emotionally attached to will get cancelled. This will be very traumatic, but you'll move on eventually. At least that's what I'm telling myself. Nobody say anything about The Newsroom, it's too soon.
- If you instagram that photo during the party, there is an 100% chance that you will wake up the next day and regret the filter you used. Every. Single. Time.
- There is absolutely no shame in asking for what you want. You probably won't get it, or if you do, it'll be packaged so weirdly that you won't even recognize it. However, there's nothing more empowering than allowing yourself the confidence to go after your dreams hands first.
- Keeping in touch with friends gets really hard when you move away from home. It's a two way street, and sometimes it just doesn't work. Like most aspects of growing up, this is both sad and liberating.
- The majority of people are actually single on New Years Eve. So calm the fuck down.
- Call your parents. A lot. They're actually really cool and you can rant to them about all your shitty frenemies without worrying that they'll spill the beans.
- You are worth what you desire. And working hard for said desire is both a privilege and a responsibility. Respect it.
